Cambridge, Mass. (June 19) -- Lauren Haynie, MIT's special assistant to the athletic director, has resigned her position and has accepted the senior associate athletic director position at Wellesley College (Mass.).
"Lauren will definitely be missed by all of us," said Julie Soriero, Director of Athletics. "She quietly went about her work with diligence and a strong sense of purpose. She was actively engaged in many initiatives and committees across campus and brought that same sense of purpose to that work as well. Lauren has stalwartly been "value-added", certainly to DAPER, but across campus as well, particularly in the Division of Student Life. We wish her the best and we have full confidence that Lauren will do a great job at Wellesley."
During her four years at MIT, the Engineers captured 38 New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Championships and posted three top-10 finishes in the Learfield Directors Cup. MIT also had three individual national champions, 59 CoSIDA Academic All-America honorees and seven NCAA Elite 90 recipients.
"I would like to thank the DAPER staff for the opportunity to learn and grow in an innovative and dynamic culture," said Haynie. "The experience has broadened my perspective and has prepared me for the next exciting step in my career. I would also like to give a special thanks to Julie for her mentorship and guidance throughout my tenure at MIT."
At MIT, Haynie was a member of the DAPER Mentor Program Planning Team and the co-director of "Engineering Success", which is MIT's student-athlete well-being initiative. In addition, Haynie was the advisor to the MIT Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) and serves as an administrator to the NEWMAC SAAC Programming Committee. Haynie was also a two-time DSL Infinite Mile Award recipient, capturing both the "Outstanding Contributor Award" and the "Serving the Client Award."
