CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – A halftime treat and a chance to participate in the “26 Acts of Kindness” campaign honoring the victims of the Sandy Hook tragedy will be in store for fans that attend tomorrow night’s MIT basketball doubleheader. Things will kick off with the MIT men facing off against Coast Guard at 6 p.m. and the women following with a game against Babson College at 8 p.m.
As part of the “26 Acts of Kindness” campaign, donations for “Our Place,” the Salvation Army’s Day Care Center that serves local children from the community, will be collected. Specific needs include: Diapers (sizes newborn - size 5, baby food: both fruit and vegetable 1's and 2's, baby wipes, snacks/food (graham crackers, animal crackers, cheese sticks, snack-size apple sauce), crib fitted sheets, and pull down musical crib toys.
Also taking place at halftime of the men’s game will be the first ever DSL (Division of Student Life)/DUE (Division of Undergraduate Education) basketball challenge. Members from both of divisions at MIT will be squaring off in various basketball skills competitions to see which one will be able to take home basketball bragging rights for the year.
