CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – The MIT Department of Athletics, Physical Education and Recreation (DAPER) has announced that it will be adding webcasting for home baseball and softball games. The first game to be broadcast is scheduled to be April 8 when the Engineers’ softball team hosts UMass Boston for a doubleheader.
Broadcast of the games has been made possible by a newly acquired satellite system that will provide internet capability at both the baseball and softball diamonds on Briggs. Both fields have also been enhanced with the addition of portable press box facilities that will be used to house the broadcast positions.
A list of the games to be broadcast and links to the video can be found in the Upcoming Events tab on the front page of the official website of MIT Varsity Athletics, www.mitathletics.com and on the schedule pages for both sports. Inclement weather could cause cancellation of the broadcasts, so please check www.mitathletics.com for updates to the broadcast schedule. Single games (doubleheaders will count as one game) can be viewed for a charge of $5. A monthly pass option is also available that allows fans to access any MIT webcast for 30 days for $25.
