Greg Basmajian begins his first season an assistant athletic trainer at MIT in 2016-2017. Basmajian comes to MIT from nearby Wentworth Institute of Technology, where he worked as an assistant athletic trainer from 2013-2016. 

During his time at Wentworth, he worked primarily with the men’s soccer, men’s and women’s basketball and men’s lacrosse programs. Assisting with the updating of the department’s policies and procedures, secondary insurance information and day-to-day operations, Basmajian was responsible for evaluating, treating and rehabilitating athletic injuries for his teams and also coordinating appointments with team physicians.

Prior to Wentworth, Basmajian worked as an assistant athletic trainer at Yale University (Conn.), where he worked with the men’s soccer, baseball, men’s and women’s swimming and diving and men’s and women’s fencing teams. With those teams, he was responsible for all athletic training duties and also worked as an ACI for undergraduate athletic training students from Quinnipiac University. 

His other experience includes working as a strength and conditioning intern both at Merrimack and Harvard University (Mass.), along with jobs at Cedardale Athletic Club and Athletic Evolution Strength and Conditioning.

A 2010 graduate of Merrimack College (Mass.), Basmajian earned his bachelor of science degree in athletic training and graduated Cum Laude. At Merrimack, he was a five-time member of the Dean’s List and also a three-year letterwinner for the Warrior’s football team. 

Basmajian then earned his master of business administration from Albertus Magnus College (Conn.) as he was an honors student with a 3.9 grade point average.
