Elise Mayers graduated from Northeastern University with a Bachelor of Science in Athletic Training in 2007. She then came to MIT as a graduate assistant athletic trainer where she worked closely with the football and men's volleyball programs. Simultaneously, Mayers pursued a Masters in Education, Counseling: Sport Psychology at Boston University. Upon graduation in 2009, she spent the next year at Emerson College before returning to MIT as a full-time athletic trainer.
With the Engineers, Mayers manages the medical care for the baseball, women's lightweight crew, women's soccer, swimming and diving, men's volleyball, and water polo teams. She is also the coordinator of the team physician's weekly clinic held at the MIT Medical and MIT Sports Medicine facilities.
For the past five years, Mayers has served as a preceptor at Boston University for its Athletic Training Education Program. She is certified by the Board of Certification and licensed by the state of Massachusetts to practice athletic training. In addition, Mayers has been a member of the National Athletic Trainer's Association since 2005.
