Jess Rooney Gallagher joined the MIT sports medicine staff for the 2007-2008 season and is now in her fifth year working with the Engineer’s intercollegiate teams. She coordinates care for women’s volleyball, men’s basketball, men’s lacrosse, women’s tennis, rifle, and men and women’s cross country.
A 2001 graduate of Northeastern University with a B.S in Athletic Training; continued her academic career with an E.d.M. in Sports Psychology from Boston University in 2003.
Jess joined the MIT staff after spending four years as the Head Athletic Trainer for Campus Recreation at the University of New Hampshire. During her tenure, she coordinated care for 26 club sports including rugby, wrestling, lacrosse, ice hockey, cycling, and woodsmen. While at Boston University, she was a Graduate Assistant for Club Sports, providing care women’s rugby, women’s ice hockey, cycling, and men’s lacrosse.
In addition to her athletic training and administrative responsibilities, Jess serves as an approved clinical instructor for Boston University’s Athletic Training Education Program, where she is responsible for supervising and mentoring athletic training students. She also serves as the MIT’s clinical site coordinator for the BU program.
Jess is a licensed athletic trainer in Massachusetts and an active member of the National Athletic Trainers’ Association, Eastern Athletic Trainers’ Association, and the Athletic Trainers of Massachusetts.
