CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – In its first attempt, the MIT women’s basketball team placed 14th on the Women’s Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) Academic Top 25 Team Honor Roll. The award, given at the NCAA Division I, II, III, NAIA, and Junior College/Community College levels, recognizes programs that carry the highest grade point averages for the entire season based on the nomination submitted by WBCA-member head coaches. CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Coming on the heels of one of the most successful campaigns in Institute history, MIT placed 11th among all Division III schools in the National Association of College Directors of Athletics (NACDA) annual Learfield Sports Directors’ Cup. This was the highest ranking for the Engineers in the 14-year history of the program and the first time they were the best performers in the New England Women’s and Men’s Athletic Conference (NEWMAC). CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – The MIT swimming and diving teams racked up a record number of All-Academic accolades from the College Swimming Coaches Association of America (CSCAA). The men paced all Division III squads with 13 individual honors while also ranking eighth for the team award. On the women’s side, the Engineers placed six athletes on the list and finished among the top 25 for the team honor. READ MORE

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – This summer Clare Flanagan ’11 and Kate Hoff ’08 received invitations to represent the MIT women’s lightweight rowing program at the United States Rowing Sculling Development Camp. Held at the Vesper Boat Club in Philadelphia, Pa., the focus of the camp is developing lightweight women in sculling as this is the only racing opportunity on the international stage for lightweight women. CAMBRIDGE, Mass. — MIT announced today the 2010 schedules for the 14 varsity sports that will compete during the fall season. Five Tech teams will begin their defense of conference titles this fall, including the reigning New England Women’s and Men’s Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) champions in men’s and women’s cross country, field hockey, women’s soccer and men’s tennis. Schedules were also released for MIT’s four varsity crew programs, as well as the football, men’s soccer, women’s tennis, women’s volleyball and water polo teams. READ MORE
