CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – After leading the MIT rifle team through a season in which the squad produced a 27-9 record, the Mid Atlantic Rifle Conference (MAC) small bore champion and a MAC Shooter of the Month, head coach Melissa Mulloy-Mecozzi has been recognized as the 2013-14 Coach of the Year by the conference.
Mulloy-Mecozzi, who just completed her third year at MIT, has led the Engineers to a 65-19 record during her tenure with the program. During the 2013-14 season the team twice broke the school record in air rifle, setting its second mark on March 2 when the Engineers shot a 2271 at the MAC Championships.
A former collegiate All-American at the University of Alaska - Fairbanks and a participant in the 2000 Olympic Games, Mulloy-Mecozzi was named the head coach of the MIT rifle team in July 2011. She succeeded her father, Jerry, who was at the helm for the Engineers from 2001 through 2011.
