CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Senior Sarah Wright (Christchurch, New Zealand) of the MIT rifle team has been recognized by the Mid Atlantic Rifle Conference (MAC) as its Air Rifle Shooter of the Month for February. She is the fourth Engineer to be honored with the award.
A two-time All-MAC selection, Wright had a fantastic final month of competition for MIT this past season. She began February with the top score in air rifle on both days of the annual Beanpot competition, turning in scores of 578 and 580 that included a pair of 99s on the second day of shooting. At the NCAA qualifier she set a new school record with a 590, bettering the previous mark of 587 that was held by both Elizabeth Phillips '13 and Emily Houston '10. Her score also made her an alternate to the 2016 NCAA Rifle Championships. Wright then closed out the month by winning the individual title at the MAC Championships where she included a perfect 100 on her way to a 581.
