Rifle Falls in Narrow Two-Point Final at MAC Championship

THE BASICS:

- Location: New London, Conn.

- The Lead: At the MAC Championship, the MIT rifle team dropped a 2,178-2,176 final to SUNY Maritime as the teams were matched together in the air rifle expert category in the event held at the U.S. Coast Guard Academy.   

HOW IT HAPPENED:

- Junior Gregory Lee (Feura Bush, N.Y.) led the Engineers with a score of 549, followed by freshman Jesus Herrera (Los Angeles, Calif.) at 542. Senior Kelly Mathesius (Aurora, Ill.) posted a total of 542 in her final collegiate competition, followed by junior William Caruso (Toms River, N.J.) as the final scorer for MIT. Junior Joel Solis (Brownsville, Texas) was the fifth shooter for the Engineers as he posted a score of 527.

- Cameron Albrant was the top scorer in this matchup for SUNY Maritime as he finished with 550 points.
