CAMBRIDGE, Mass. - Norwich Univeristy won MIT's annual Bean-Pot Shootout behind Crystal Comfort's match-high score of 576. The Engineers finished second overall in the competition, which also included the U.S. Coast Guard Academy and John Jay University.

 

Anton Katz was the top air gunner of the weekend's match, shooting 580 out of 600 to lead the MIT attack. Robert Grimes (541) and Nathan Pfaff (564) also supplied career-best scores in air rifle, which proved critical as MIT slipped past Coast Guard by four points in the aggregate standings. Although MIT secured its best efforts in air, Katz (567) and Joseph Kovac (539) posted solid scores to lead the Engineers in smallbore.

 

The Engineers posted an aggregate total of 4375, falling well shy of the 4547 totaled by Norwich. MIT and Coast Guard split results, with MIT winning in air rifle, 2223-2200. The Cardinal and Gray defeated John Jay in both guns.
