Navy Breaks Four Range Records to End Tech's Unbeaten Run

Oct. 29, 2005

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. - Perennial national power Navy flexed its muscle against previously unbeaten MIT on Saturday, breaking four range records en route to the win. With winning scores of 2310-2181 in air rifle and 2300-2179 in smallbore, the Midshipmen set team records in both guns.

Although MIT suffered its first shoulder-to-shoulder loss after four straight wins, the Engineers' performance was right on target. Jonathan Burnham and Jake Latcham recorded personal bests for the second consecutive week, while the Cardinal and Gray received outstanding shooting efforts from Jay Gill, Anton Katz, Wes McKinney and Nathan Pfaff. Tech's air unit shot a season-high 2181.

Navy's smallbore team of Josh Albright, Monica Amagna, Billy Carson and Chris Schneider fired a new team record in addition to the range mark, while Albright, Amagna, Schneider, and Christy Shade comprised the Midshipmen's record-breaking air squad.

In smallbore, both Chris Schneider and Josh Albright broke the 3 x 20 with a pair of 585. Albright also set an individual range record in air rifle with a score of 583. Katz was Tech's top marksman, totaling a score of 580 in air and 571 in smallbore.
