CAMBRIDGE, Mass. - The MIT rifle team traveled to the Massachusetts Maritime Academy (MMA) over the weekend and picked up a pair of victories over the Buccaneers. The Engineers won by scores of 2214-2037 in smallbore and 2241-2135 in air rifle, to improve their overall record to 10-6 on the season.
In the smallbore category, MIT recorded the four highest point totals en route to the convincing victory. Emily Houston led all shooters with a score of 567, surpassing the 90-point plateau on each of her six attempts. Nigel Kojimoto was not far behind, carding a 560, including three shots of at least 96 points. Joseph Lane registered a total of 547 and Jennifer Paek rounded out the scoring for the Engineers with 540 points. Kevin Geisel was the top scorer for MMA with 536 points.
In air rifle, Houston continued her dominance, posting a high-score of 573, aided by two 96-point shots and a pair of 97-point shots. Lane also fared well in this gun, totaling 567 points, including one 99-point effort. Kojimoto (559) and Laura Fallon (542) also helped contribute to the MIT win.
MIT will host MMA, VMI and Wentworth on Saturday, December 6 at 9:00 a.m.
