CAMBRIDGE, Mass. - The Mid-Atlantic Conference (MAC) announced its end of season awards on Wednesday. MIT junior Emily Houston was named to the Second Team All-Conference in both smallbore and air rifle by virtue of her solid performance in both guns throughout the season. Houston has now earned All-Conference honors in air rifle each of the past three years. This is her first selection in the smallbore category.
In eight varsity matches this season, the junior averaged a score of 578.75 with the air rifle. This total placed Houston fifth overall in the conference, just 0.47 points shy of the threshold for First Team accolades. Houston's smallbore average was 566.63 points per match, good for eight overall and a Second Team nod.
Houston had previously been named MAC All-Conference Second Team in air rifle in both her freshman and sophomore seasons. She was also named the MAC Shooter of the Month for January this year.
The Engineers placed second to Penn State in the Expert Division of the smallbore competition at last weekend's MAC Championship hosted by VMI.
