MIT Names Nadeem Mazen Head Coach of Squash
CAMBRIDGE, Mass.
– Nadeem Mazen was named head coach of the MIT squash team as
announced by Julie Soriero, Director of Athletics, on Thursday.
Mazen’s appointment marks his first intercollegiate coaching
post.
“I am very pleased to have Nadeem join our department as the
head coach of the MIT squash team,” noted Barb Bolich,
Assistant Athletic Director and Senior Woman Administrator.
“He brings great enthusiasm, energy and a sincere passion for
the game of squash. I believe Nadeem’s leadership and
commitment will spark new life into the MIT squash
program.”
A four-year player at MIT, Mazen served as the captain during his
junior and senior campaigns and captured the No. 1 spot on the team
ladder his senior season. As an undergraduate, he was a mentor and
coach for Kosvar refugees. In addition, he coached middle school
students in MIT’s Science Technology Engineering and Math
Summer Program. From 2007-09, Mazen was a one-on-one instructor for
beginner and intermediate players in the greater Boston area.
A 2006 graduate, Mazen earned a bachelor’s degree in
Mechanical Engineering.
