      <description>CAMBRIDGE, Mass. &#x2013; For the second year in a row MIT placed 11th among all Division III schools in the National Association of College Directors of Athletics (NACDA) annual Learfield Sports Directors&#x2019; Cup. The Engineers&#x2019; Institute-best finish once again registered as the highest performance by the New England Women&#x2019;s and Men&#x2019;s Athletic Conference (NEWMAC).</description>

The Engineers made program history by opening the weekend with back-to-back wins as they topped University of Washington, 6-3, and University of California-Berkeley, 5-4, en route to the championship tilt.</description>

Eleven teams will compete, beginning with the rifle squad, whose season kicks off on October 2. A number of teams, including the men's basketball, men's and women's swimming &amp; diving and men's and women's track &amp; field are coming off extremely successful seasons, which culminated in appearances at their respective NCAA Championships. The women's basketball, men's and women's fencing, squash and men's volleyball schedules were also released.</description>

      <description>CHICAGO, Ill. &#x2013; The National Collegiate Scouting Association (NCSA) recently announced its eighth annual Collegiate Power Rankings. Following another tremendous year, the Engineers were listed fourth overall in securing their highest ranking in the history of the report. The NCSA Athletic Recruiting&#x2019;s Collegiate Power Rankings assess the academic and athletics standards of all NCAA athletic programs across the country. The Power Rankings were developed to help prospective student athletes and their families evaluate the particular strengths of the top colleges and universities at the Division I, II and III levels.</description>
