MIT Falls to Amherst, 9-0
CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – The MIT squash team traveled to Amherst College on Saturday for its final match of the fall semester. The Engineers battled the No. 22 ranked Lord Jeffs but ultimately fell, 9-0. Tech's ledger now stands at 4-7 on the season.
Junior Sunny Long (Wethersfield, Conn.) nearly earned a come-from-behind victory in a back-and-forth match at the No. 7 position. Long won the second and third sets, but could not clinch a third-set win, falling in five sets to Rodrigo Miranda (San Salvador, El Salvador), 11-7, 6-11, 10-12, 11-8, 11-7.
Sophomore West Hubbard (Greenwich, Conn.) played hard in the top spot but lost to Scott DeSantis (Sudbury, Mass.), 11-9, 13-11, 11-6.
The Cardinal and Gray will return to action in January, traveling to Colby and Bowdoin College for the Maine Event. The Engineers will face the University of Vermont and Bowdoin in a pair of matches on January 28.
