HARTFORD, Conn. - To officially end the season, the MIT squash team sent sophomore Gray Riley (Wellesley, Mass.) to the Collegiate Squash Association (CSA) Individual National Championships, that took place at Trinity College from Friday through Saturday, March 1-2. He played one match each day against different opponents, falling in both.
Riley is the first Engineer to make it to the Individual National Championships since West Hubbard was the lone MIT representative in 2011 as a freshman. Riley is only the eighth MIT squash player and the second since the 2007-08 season to make it individually.
On Friday, Riley faced Eric B Caine of Yale, falling in all three games with scores of 11-5, 11-4, 11-3. The following day, the sophomore lost to Antonio De La Torre of Franklin & Marshall with scores of 11-5 in the first two games and 11-2 in the final game.
