Squash picks up 6-3 Victory over Tufts
CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – At its third of nine consecutive home matches, the MIT squash team defeated Tufts University by a score of 6-3 on Wednesday evening. With its record of 4-1, the Engineers are having a strong start to their 2013-14 campaign, dropping just one match so far to Connecticut College.
Freshman Tyler Finkelstein (Greenwich, Conn.) started things off with a win at the No. 2 position, defeating Josh Lee by a score of 11-4, 11-7, 11-7. Continuing on an undefeated streak, junior David Bian (Austin, Texas) won his fifth match of the season when he defeated Brandon Weiss, 11-6. 11-5, 11-4 at No. 4. Closing out the top five spots was fellow junior Gray Riley (Wellesley, Mass.), who defeated Jeremy Arronson, 11-2, 11-5, 11-4.
At No. 6, senior Abhi Mitra (Medford, Mass.) won against Danny Fisher by a score of 11-6, 11-8, 11-5, while sophomore Marina Crowe (Wayland, Mass.) was victorious at No. 7, picking up a win over Jamieson Breig, 11-7, 11-6, 11-4. Winning her first match this season was junior Sarah Fay (South Hadley, Mass.), defeating Owen Elliot at No. 8 by a score of 11-7, 11-9, 11-2.
MIT has a busy weekend coming up; on Saturday, Nov. 23, the Engineers will host Bowdoin College at 2:00 p.m. and Wesleyan University at 7:30 p.m. On Sunday, they will face Colby College at 6:00 p.m.
