CAMBRIDGE, Mass. - The Engineers (3-8) knew Thursday night's home match with tenth ranked Brown University was going to be tough. The Bears met and exceeded those expectations by sweeping every game in three sets en route to a 9-0 route.
MIT has now dropped three consecutive decisions to ranked opponents. Even senior captain Nadeem Mazen, who claimed MIT's only victories against Connecticut College and Northwestern last weekend, fell far short against his Brown opponent on Thursday. Junior Daniel Petrie easily handled Mazen in straight sets, 9-1, 9-1, 9-0. Freshman standout Justin Stilwell had a similar fate, losing to senior Brian Rifkin 9-1, 9-2, 9-3.
The Engineers will conclude their two game homestand against Tufts University on Wednesday, February 8 at 6:00 p.m.
