Squash Falters in Weekend Competition

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. - The MIT squash team had a full weekend, hosting Northwestern University and Connecticut College, and then traveling to Bowdoin College. The Engineers fell to Northwestern, 5-4, on Friday and Connecticut, 7-2, on Saturday. Tech dropped an 8-1 decision to Bowdoin on Sunday. MIT's record falls to 2-11 on the season.

Against Northwestern, Nikhil Khana posted a 9-7, 9-7, 9-5 victory in the No. 1 spot. Adam Bushashia followed him with a 9-7, 7-9, 9-2, 9-0 win. In the No. 4 position, Nadeem Mazen won, 9-4, 4-9, 9-6, 10-9. Duncan Ma overpowered his opponent, finishing with a 9-2, 9-3, 9-0 decision in the No. 5 slot.

On Saturday, Bushashia defeated Jordan Savage, 9-6, 9-5, 9-1. Ma recorded another dominating performance with a 9-2, 9-4, 9-3 victory. Mazen fell 5-9, 6-9, 9-2, 9-6, 9-7, in a five-game thriller. Khana had a solid outing for MIT despite losing, 3-9, 9-2, 9-6, 9-6.

Ma capped the weekend with a 10-9, 10-8, 5-9, 9-6 victory at Bowdoin. Jehan DeFonseka recorded a solid effort against the Polar Bears, falling 9-7, 9-3, 9-4.
