MIT Squash Suffers 6-3 Setback at the Hands of Tufts

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. - The MIT squash team hosted Tufts University over the weekend with the Jumbos taking the first six matches en route to a 6-3 win over the Engineers.

In the first position, Alex Gross swept Andrew Yoon, 9-0, 9-2, 9-0, to set an early tone for the day. Balaji Sridhar did not fare any better in the number two slot, losing 9-1, 9-1, 9-0 to Ben Rind. Saad Zaheer appeared to be able to shift the momentum in MIT's favor, prevailing 9-6 in the second set of his match with Henry Miller, but Miller rallied for the eventual 10-8, 6-9, 9-7, 9-7 victory. Samir Zaidi was able to extend his match in the fifth position to five sets, but ultimately lost, 9-5, 9-5, 7-9, 2-9, 9-7, to Josh Levinson.

John Kucharczyk, Robert Habib and Ned Carpenter ended the day on a positive note for the Cardinal and Grey, earning three straight wins in the matches at the seven, eight and nine positions.

MIT is now off for over a month. The Engineers are back in action on Friday, January 16 when they take on Vassar in New Haven, Conn.
