National Power Bates Too Much For Tech

Dec. 11, 2006

LEWISTON, Maine - The No. 12 ranked Bates College men's squash team was too much for MIT to handle on Friday night, as the Bobcats shut out the Engineers, 9-0. With the win, Bates moved to 2-1 on the season, while Tech dropped to 0-5.

Though MIT was swept in all nine matches, there were some noteworthy performances. Sophomore Saad Zaheer came out of the gate strong from the No. 4 spot, nearly taking the first game against Jordan Greenberg before ultimately falling, 9-6. Fellow sophomore Balaji Sridhar, who found himself down two games to Marc Taggart out of the No. 6 position, nearly forced a fourth game with a valiant effort in a 9-7 third game loss.

Tech will look to bounce back following the long winter break layoff when it travels to Middletown, Conn. to take on Wesleyan University (11:00 a.m.) and Vassar College (3:00 p.m.) on Saturday, Jan. 20. Bates will host perennial national title favorite Yale University on Saturday, Jan. 6 at 4:00 p.m.
