MIT Squash Dedicates Center Court to Nasser Ahmad `90

Dec. 5, 2006

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. - The naming of squash court No. 5 on the third floor of the Al and Barrie Zesiger Sports and Fitness Center was presented in honor of Nasser Aziz Ahmad in recognition of his generous support of the squash program in the Department of Athletics, Physical Education and Recreation (DAPER). An alumnus of the MIT squash program and class of 1990, Ahmad traveled to Cambridge for a ribbon-cutting ceremony and dedication on Dec. 1.

"Squash was an important part of my MIT experience and I am happy to be able to contribute to the squash program at MIT," said Ahmad. "If I did not have the opportunity to play varsity squash, and get to know the coaches and the other players, I would not have enjoyed MIT as much as I did. I hope former, current, and future MIT athletes will contribute to DAPER when they are able to do so because we all know how important athletics are to the MIT experience."

Ahmad played under the tutelage of former squash and tennis coach Jeff Hamilton in his last three years with the program. A former team captain, Ahmad enjoyed a successful career donning the Cardinal and Gray, and served primarily in the No. 2 position during his senior season.
