CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – MIT junior Brian Doyle has been named to the 2010 ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District 1 Team by the College Sports Information Directors Association of America (CoSIDA). A Second Team selection, Doyle was recognized for his performance in the outfield and the classroom.
Doyle, a native of Hopkinton, Mass., started in 26 of the Engineers’ 31 games this season, batting .225 on the year. In conference play, the centerfielder slugged .391 while maintaining a perfect fielding percentage in 8 games played.
A two-time NEWMAC Academic All-Conference honoree, Doyle has a cumulative 4.9/5.0 GPA through fall 2009 while majoring in Mechanical Engineering. His academic projects have included research of internal waves with the MIT Experimental and Nonlinear Dynamics Lab (ENDLab) and analysis of automotive suspensions while interning at Bose Corp.
Doyle, who is also a member of Tech's football squad, was previously named to the 2009 CoSIDA/ESPN The Magazine Academic All-America Football Team.
