Mangrum Selected for All-New England Honors

BABSON PARK, Mass. – After an outstanding sophomore season that saw him lead MIT and the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference in hitting, Creed Mangrum (Sandy, Utah) was selected to the 2012 New England Intercollegiate Baseball Association All-New England third team the organization announced today. MIT and Wheaton were the only two NEWMAC schools with selections to the squad

Mangrum, who is the first MIT player since 2009 selected to the All-New England team, finished the season with a .407 average, a mark that led all hitters in the NEWMAC in 2012. He slugged one home run and tied for the team lead with 23 RBI. Mangrum also led the team in doubles (13), slugging (.574), triples (1) and on-base percentage (.468). A hit in his final at-bat of the season he extended his team-best hitting streak to 17 games. In all, he was hitless in just four of the 30 games in which he played and committed just one error in the field in 64 chances (.984)
