BOSTON, Mass. – For the third time this season a member of the MIT baseball team has been honored with a New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) weekly award. Today the league announced freshman John Drago (Peoria, Ariz.) as the Baseball Player of the Week for his play in five games last week for the Engineers.
Drago had an outstanding week at the plate for MIT, recording at least one hit in all five games to finish with a .500 average with eight RBI and seven runs scored while also posting a slugging percentage of .950 and an on-base percentage of .630. He drove in a run in four of the five games, including four in game one against Emerson on Saturday. His three-run home run broke open that contest and he followed with another home run in game two against the Lions. For the week he hit for the cycle, recording a double and triple on the road at Trinity on Wednesday.
