Rookie Brian Doyle Named NEWMAC Baseball Player of the Week

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. - Freshman Brian Doyle was named NEWMAC Player of the Week after boasting tremendous offensive numbers during MIT baseball's 3-2 start to the 2008 campaign. The rookie from Hopkinton, Mass., registered an eye-popping .847 on-base percentage in three starts.

Doyle finished 7-for-9 at the plate and added four walks in reaching base 11 times in 13 plate appearances. Doyle paced the Engineers with five runs scored during the week, including three runs in MIT's 13-inning victory over Babson. Doyle finished 5-for-6 with a walk in the second game against the Beavers.
