CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – MIT senior Noel Hollingsworth (Salt Lake City, Utah) was selected as the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Men's Basketball Player of the Week on Monday, the third time this season Hollingsworth has been honored by the league. The senior big man averaged 19.5 points and 8.5 rebounds in a pair of wins, as the Engineers regained sole possession of first place in the conference.
Hollingsworth had a game-high 23 points and recorded his fifth double-double of the season with 11 rebounds in an 80-55 win over Coast Guard on Saturday. He started the week off with 15 points, six boards and three blocks as MIT defeated Clark, 64-46. For the week, Hollingsworth shot 60.9% from the field and made 10-of-13 shots from the foul line.
Hollingsworth, who is just 12 points shy of 1,000 for his career, has helped MIT to an 18-1 overall record and a 6-1 ledger in NEWMAC play.
Tech will be on the road for a pair of games this week, playing at Wheaton College on Wednesday, February 1 at 7:00 p.m. The Engineers will also visit Springfield College on Saturday.
