CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – MIT freshman Dennis Levene (Weston, Conn.) will represent Denmark this summer at a pair of international tournaments as a member of the Under-20 Danish National team. The U20 team will compete at the Nordic Championship in Finland from June 19-21 and in the B Division at the European Championships in Sofia, Bulgaria from July 11-23.
Levene will be coached by Peter Hoffman, who is also the head coach of the senior men's national team, during both tournaments. At the European Championships, Denmark will play in group C along with Belarus, Great Britain, Portugal and Croatia. They open pool play against Belarus on July 13.
As a freshman, Levene appeared in 28 games for Tech, averaging 1.4 points and 1.1 rebounds per game on 35.1% shooting. He provided a spark off the bench for the Engineers during their NCAA tournament run, scoring five points in a second round win against Farmingdale State University. He had a career-high 8 points against Wheaton College on January 7.
