Paul Grant enters his 6th season as an assistant coach with the Engineers. Grant’s extensive experience with hoops at all-levels of play as well as his intense work ethic has been invaluable to the program, as Grant’s personalized and individual attention with MIT’s players has maximized their skill sets.
The 7-0 center was selected by the Minnesota Timberwolves in the first round (20th pick overall) of the 1997 NBA Draft, playing three seasons with Minnesota, Milwaukee, and Utah. Grant’s professional career also included the CBA, the ABA, NBDL, and the European League. Grant played three seasons at Boston College, and one year at Wisconsin. After his senior year at Wisconsin, Grant was named honorable mention All-Big Ten, leading the Badgers in scoring (12.5 ppg), field goal percentage (.494) and blocked shots (1.2 bpg). Earning a degree in English, Grant was also named to the GTE Academic All-District Team.
Paul Grant was born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and attended Brother Rice High School in Detroit, Michigan.
