CAMBRIDGE, Mass. - After pushing MIT to the top of the conference standings with two league wins, senior Mike D'Auria was named NEWMAC Player of the Week in men's basketball for the first time this season.

In a 75-54 victory against Coast Guard on Thursday, D'Auria finished 9-of-14 from the floor for 21 points, while also recording four assists and two steals. Two days later, D'Auria scored 25 points, including two key baskets in the final minute of a 69-66 victory at Wheaton. In addition to connecting on 9-of-17 field goal attempts, D'Auria added a career-high 11 rebounds, three steals and three assists in the win over the Lyons.

The senior quad-captain from Newton, Mass., also added 25 points, five steals and four assists in a non-conference loss at Tufts early in the week. D'Auria was the game's leading scorer in all three games last week and has paced the Engineers in scoring through all 11 games this season.

D'Auria has scored 243 points during the campaign, and at 22.1 points per game is carrying the highest scoring average since the Engineers' Dave Tomlinson average 22.7 points in the 1990-91 season. With 1,185 career points, D'Auria is 10 markers behind Keith Whalen '95 for 13th place on the Institute's all-time scoring list.
