Jan. 23, 2006

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. - Senior Mike D'Auria earned his second NEWMAC Player of the Week award in the last three weeks after another seven-day stretch in which he carried MIT's (12-4, 4-1) hardwood unit to an unblemished mark.

D'Auria capped a 2-0 week for MIT with one of the best games of his collegiate career in an 81-68 win at Emerson. Against the Lions, D'Auria scored a career-high 28 points on 10-of-18 shooting, while also grabbing a career-best 12 rebounds. He added five assists and four steals in the non-conference victory.

Earlier in the week, D'Auria scored 18 points and grabbed 10 boards to lead the Engineers to a 62-54 win versus Clark. D'Auria was 9-of-9 at the line against the Cougars and had a pair of steals en route to consecutive double-doubles.

Last week, D'Auria also raced up the all-time scoring ladder at the Institute, moving ahead of Ray Nagem '80, Zach Inman '01, Alex Wilson '67 and Adam Gibbons '05. With 1,286 career points, D'Auria ranks ninth all-time in MIT lore.
