Nov. 13, 2008

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. - Senior guard Jimmy Bartolotta has been named to the D3Hoops Preseason All-America Second Team in addition to earning Honorable Mention All-American accolades by The Sporting News. Bartolotta’s recognition marks the first national preseason honor in the program’s history.

Last year, Bartolotta set a school record by averaging 23.9 points per game in 24 games played. He was the only player in the New England Women’s and Men’s Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) to rank among the league leaders in every statistical category, including second overall in assists (4.0) and steals (2.3).

Bartolotta closed the 2007-08 campaign with a bevy of individual awards. In addition to joining Mike D’Auria ‘06 as the only MIT player to earn All-America honors, Bartolotta was a First Team CoSIDA/ESPN The Magazine Academic All-America, a finalist for the prestigious Jostens Trophy, and was selected to the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) Northeast All-District Second Team.
