Weekly Conference Spotlight Shines on Bartolotta

Dec. 8, 2008

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. - In the wake of becoming MIT's all-time leading scorer, senior Jimmy Bartolotta was honored for an outstanding week of play as he was named NEWMAC Player of the Week.

In a 2-1 week for the Engineers, Bartolotta averaged 28.3 points while shooting 24-of-45 from the floor (.533) and 32-of-36 from the free-throw line (.890). He also averaged six rebounds, while collecting five steals and at least one block in all three games.

In last Tuesday's loss at Salem State, Bartolotta scored a game-high 34 points on 13-of-23 shooting. In Tech's 76-43 win at Lesley, he scored 20 points on 10 shots (5-of-10). In MIT's 79-66 win against Tufts, Bartolotta was again a model of efficiency as he scored 31 points despite being credited with just 12 shots (6-of-12). He finished a career-high 17-of-19 from the line versus the Jumbos while hauling down a season-high 11 rebounds.

With a three near the end of Saturday's first half, Bartolotta became MIT's all-time leading scorer and its first student-athlete to top 1,700 career points.
