Engineers Finish Second in Cochrane Cup

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. - At its final home event of the season, the MIT men's heavyweight crew team raced just one boat against the University of Wisconsin in the Cochrane Cup on the Charles River on Saturday morning. This race was run as a three-boat event, paired with the Jablonic Cup, which was a race between Boston University and Wisconsin on the Charles at the same time.

In the Varsity 8 event, the Badgers completed the 2,000m course in 6:15.9, and were followed by the Engineers with their time of 6:32.1. In its race with Wisconsin, Boston University finished with a time of 6:10.1.

Tech has just two more regattas before the end of the 2013-14 season. On Sunday, May 18, the Cardinal and Gray will return to Lake Quinsigamond in Worcester, Mass. for the EARC Sprints. To officially wrap up the season, MIT will compete in the IRA Regatta on Mercer Lake in New Jersey from Friday through Sunday, May 30 through June 1.
