  • Men’s Heavyweight Crew Announces 2018-19 Recruiting Class

    The MIT men’s heavyweight crew program has announced its incoming recruiting class for the 2018-19 season as 14 student-athletes join the team, which will be under the guidance of Tony Kilbridge, the H.W. McCurdy ‘22 Director of Rowing/Head Coach, for the 13th season.
  • Men’s Heavyweight Crew Competes at IRA National Championship

    In its final outing of the season, the MIT men’s heavyweight crew Varsity 4+ advanced to the Third Level Final of the IRA National Championship. However, due to unsafe conditions, Sunday’s races were cancelled.
  • Men’s Heavyweight Crew Has Strong Showing at Dad Vail Regatta

    Competing in the two-day Dad Vail Regatta, the MIT men’s heavyweight crew team saw its Second Varsity 8 and Third Varsity 4 place finish fifth and sixth in their respective Grand Final races while the Varsity 8 finish fourth in the Petite Final on Saturday.
  • Men’s Heavyweight Crew Races for Cochrane Cup, Defeats MSOE

    Battling the University of Wisconsin for the Cochrane Cup while also racing Boston University on Saturday, the host Badgers bested the MIT men’s heavyweight crew team in both the Varsity 8 and Second Varsity 8 events. Later in the day, the Engineers cruised to victories over the Milwaukee School of Engineering.

  • Men’s Heavyweight Crew Dominates Coast Guard in Spring Debut

    The MIT men’s heavyweight crew team kicked off its spring season by sweeping all three of its races against the U.S. Coast Guard Academy on Saturday. Racing on flat water in cold temperatures with a seven to 10 mile per hour cross-headwind, the Engineers won their races by an average of 25.8 seconds.
  • Men’s Heavyweight Crew Finishes Fall Season at Foot of the Charles

    The MIT men’s heavyweight crew team closed out the fall portion of its schedule by competing in the Foot of the Charles on Saturday. The Engineers’ A4+ and C4+ placed 19th and 26th, respectively, while their 8+ finished 21st.

    Racing at the three-mile Princeton Chase on Sunday, the MIT men’s heavyweight crew team saw its Varsity 8 capture 24th place while the second Varsity 8 ranked 34th out of 37 entries.

    For the second year in a row the MIT’s men’s heavyweight Collegiate 8+ captured seventh place at the Head of the Charles on Sunday, marking its third straight top-10 finish. Earlier on Saturday, the Club 8+ finished in 17th place.
