Engineers Place 12th at Sprints; Earn Bid to National Championship
May 18, 2009
CAMBRIDGE, Mass. - The MIT's heavyweight crew continued its best season in decades with a 12th place finish at the EARC Sprints. After many years of finishing 17th or 18th, the Engineers made the leap to the petite final, relegating such crews as Yale and Princeton to the third-level final. MIT's freshman crew continued to race impressively, finishing ninth.
These results were good enough to win both the varsity and freshman boats invitations to the IRA National Championships, which will take place in Sacramento, Calif. during the first week of June.
