Men's Lightweight Crew Opens Season at Head of the Charles

CAMBRIDGE, Mass.  - On a crisp fall afternoon in New England, MIT men's lightweight crew opened its 2012 season at the 48th annual Head of the Charles, the largest rowing regatta in the world. The Engineers, who competed in the last men's event of the regatta on Sunday, finished the course with a time of 15:07.69.

Bow #14, led by senior coxswain Michael Hwang (Seattle, Wash.), posted the fifth fasted time out of the 18 teams that were entered in the Men's Lightweight Eights event, finishing a few seconds after Yale and Princeton and narrowly beating Cornell.

MIT will compete in three more events this year, the next of which will take place on Saturday, Oct. 28 at Princeton, before closing the 2012 season and returning to the water again in April.
