Lin and Wong Compete at NCAA Fencing Championship

COLUMBUS, Ohio – In their debuts at the NCAA Fencing Championship, MIT sophomore Benjamin Lin (Beaverton, Ore.) and freshman Tzer Wong (Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia) finished 23rd and 24th in the sabre competition on Friday at Ohio State. The lone Division III qualifiers for the weapon, the Engineers placed 25th in the overall team standings.

Lin recorded a 5-2 victory over Air Force and edged out Wong, 5-4. He nearly picked up wins against Notre Dame, Duke, two Penn State opponents, Columbia, and Penn but lost each bout by a score of 5-4. Wong's only victory was a 5-2 decision versus Air Force as he fell one touch short of defeating foes from Notre Dame, Duke, Princeton, Penn, Ohio State, and Wayne State.
