Men's Fencing Records 3-1 Mark

Feb. 2, 2005

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. - The MIT men's fencing team closed Northeast Fencing Conference action with a 3-1 performance at Brown University this past weekend. The Engineers defeated Boston College (14-13), Dartmouth College (19-8) and Brandeis University (15-12), before falling to the host Bears, 14-13.

Tech's foil squad was the difference in its match against BC, as the 7-2 score was just enough for the victory. Spencer Sugimoto led the way with an 11-1 record while Vincent Chen finished at 6-6.

The epee team posted the best weapon record of the day, tallying a 24-12 mark by winning three out of its four matches. Like Sugimoto, Trevor Chang went 11-1 while Samuel Korb notched an 8-4 mark.

The sabre squad was paced by William Walsh who registered a record of 5-5. Brian Quattrochi finished at 5-7 while Raymond Wu totaled a 4-7 ledger.
