CAMBRIDGE, MASS. - The MIT men's fencing team won its first New England Championship title in three years on Saturday. Spencer Sugimoto finished second in the men's foil, leading to a first-place finish for the weapon. Trevor Chang took third in epee while Samuel Korb placed fourth, resulting in a second-place finish for the epee squad. In sabre action, William Walsh finished fourth while the team placed third.
In junior varsity competition, Jeremy Hurwitz claimed fourth place while Justin Cannon was sixth in epee. Namit Setia won the sabre competition while fellow teammate Marti Bolivar was the runner-up. Matthew Farrell had a fine showing in sabre as well, placing fifth.
