Men's Fencing Competes at Beanpot Tournament

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – The MIT men’s fencing team dropped a trio of close contests in the second annual Beanpot Fencing Tournament hosted by Boston College on Wednesday. The Engineers (3-5) fell to the host Eagles (14-13), Brandeis University (15-12), and Harvard University (15-12).

The foil team compiled a 14-13 record courtesy of a 6-3 victory over Boston College and a 5-4 decision against Brandeis. Daniel Levine led the way with a 6-3 mark as Benjamin Nield posted a 5-4 outing. Richard LaGrandier finished the night with a tally of 3-6.

The sabre squad picked up a 6-3 win over Harvard en route to a total of 12-15. Igor Kopylov anchored the team with a 5-4 performance, followed by Rangarajan Nadadur (4-5) and Maximilian Brand (3-6).

Behind a 5-4 victory against Boston College, the epee team registered an 11-16 mark. Carter Chang paced MIT with a ledger of 6-3 as Matt Gethers went 2-5. Gabriel Chan and Javier Ordonez rounded out the contingent with records of 2-7 and 1-1, respectively.
