DeRon Brown Cops All-Region Honors, Represents MIT at Senior Classic
CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Senior running back
DeRon Brown added three more accolades to his already impressive
resume. The two-time New England Football Conference (NEFC) Boyd
Division Offensive Player of the Year, he collected plaudits from
the New England Football Writers Association, D3football.com, and
the Collegiate Development Football League (CDFL).
For the second year in a row, Brown earned a spot on the New
England Football Writers Division II/III All-New England Team and
became the Engineers’ only repeat honoree in the
program’s history. A total of 31 players representing 20
different teams were selected for the award.
Brown was one of four NEFC Boyd Division players to be tabbed to
the D3football.com All-East Region. A First-Team pick last season,
he was named to the Second Team this week. Brown is eligible for
All-America consideration with the team to be announced on
Saturday, Dec. 19 following the conclusion of the NCAA Division III
National Championship game.
Brown’s final honor was a historical one as he was invited to
play in the inaugural DIII Senior Football Classic sponsored by the
Collegiate Development Football League (CDFL). Representing the
Engineers on the North team, he recorded the game-winning touchdown
in a 14-0 victory. A recap of the event, including a quote by
