CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – MIT's Peter Gilliland earned a place on the 15th Annual USA Football News Division III Pre-Season Top 100 All-America list. The junior linebacker was one of three players from the New England Football Conference (NEFC) to be named to the list and was the lone pick from the Boyd Division.
Gilliland, a Boyd Division First-Team honoree last season, paced the NEFC in tackles per game and ranked fourth in the country with 13. He racked up a season-high 17 tackles against Framingham State College and reached the 16-tackle mark versus Endicott College and UMass Dartmouth. Gilliland amassed 10 solo tackles in a 13-tackle outing at Plymouth State University.
MIT kicks off the 2010 season on Saturday, Sept. 11 when it hosts Becker College at 12:00 p.m. The match up will be the first meeting in the history of both programs.
