BOSTON, Mass. – MIT football head coach Chad Martinovich was honored today when the Gridiron Club of Greater Boston named him the 2013 Head Coach of the Year in Division II-III. Martinovich will be honored, along with Jack Cosgrove, the head coach at the University of Maine and the Head Coach of the Year in the Bowl/Championship Divisions, at the annual banquet of the club in January.
In his fifth season at the helm of the MIT program, Martinovich led the Engineers to a 6-3 record in 2013, the best record for the program since the 1999 season when the Engineers finished 6-4. The 2012 New England Football Conference Coach of the Year, Martinovich has now led MIT to back-to-back winning seasons for second time since the program gained varsity status in 1988. MIT has seen its win totals increase in each of the last three seasons under Martinovich's guidance.
Tickets for the Gridiron Club of Greater Boston banquet can be ordered online at www.gridironclubofgreaterboston.com. The event will be held at the Westin Waltham Hotel in Waltham, Mass. on Thursday, January 9 with a social hour beginning at 6:00 p.m. followed by dinner at 7:00 p.m.
