Turley Named as NEWMAC Defensive Player of the Week

Westwood, Mass. (November 6) -- MIT football senior strong safety Mitch Turley (Westfield, Ind.) has been named as the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Defensive Player of the Week honors for his play in a home shutout win over Norwich on Senior Day.

Turley closed out his home career with a 10-tackle outing as he had nine solo stops. He started the scoring for the Engineers with a 34-yard fumble recovery for a touchdown, followed by an interception and a pass breakup later in the contest.

MIT closes out the regular season with a Noon start on Saturday, November 4th as the Engineers travel to No. 21 ranked Springfield College. The Engineers, who are 7-2 overall and 5-1 in NEWMAC play, can earn at least a share of the NEWMAC title with a victory over the Pride.
