
CAMBRIDGE, Mass. For the second year in a row MIT placed a league-high 31 athletes on the New England Football Conference (NEFC) All-Academic Team. To qualify for the team, a player must have completed three semesters at the same institution and maintain a 3.7 or higher cumulative grade point average on a 5.0 scale. CAMBRIDGE, Mass. For the second year in a row DeRon Brown was tabbed the D3football.com All-America Team. The senior running back earned Honorable Mention plaudits and was one of five players from the New England Football Conference (NEFC) to make the cut. CAMBRIDGE, Mass. Senior Alex Rubino added to an awards-filled postseason by being selected as the 2009 Nils V. Swede Nelson Award winner. He is the second consecutive member of the Cardinal and Gray to earn this honor and fourth overall. Presented at the Bob Whelan College Awards Dinner by the Gridiron Club of Greater Boston, the Swede Nelson Award is the fourth-oldest nationally recognized collegiate football award.
