Men’s Lacrosse Returns to NEWMAC After Nine-Year Hiatus
BABSON PARK, Mass. – For the first time since 2004, men’s lacrosse will return to the New England Women’s and Men’s Athletic Conference (NEWMAC), as the conference will begin sponsoring the sport for the 2014 season. Conference members, Babson College, Clark University, Emerson College, MIT, Springfield College and Wheaton College will be joined by the Massachusetts Maritime Academy, who enters the NEWMAC as an associate member in 2014. Men’s lacrosse becomes the 19th conference championship and the league’s eighth men’s offering.

Christopher Rullan to Play in USILA North-South Game
CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – On the heels of an outstanding senior campaign, Christopher Rullan (Wexford, Pa.) will cap off his MIT men’s lacrosse career by playing in the United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association LaxWorld North-South Senior Game to be held at Cabrini College on Friday, May 24. He joins Jack Clifford ’48, Chuck Fitzgerald ’59, Joe Skenderian ’61, and Tim Dorf ’88 on the list of selections for the Cardinal and Gray and is the first to compete in the Division III-only game as previous incarnations featured student-athletes from all three NCAA divisions.

MIT Men's Lacrosse Garners Pilgrim League Honors
SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – The MIT men’s lacrosse team received three Pilgrim Lacrosse League All-Conference honors and seven Academic All-Conference accolades for the second year in a row. Senior Christopher Rullan (Wexford, Pa.) was voted to the All-Conference First Team while junior Joel Santisteban (Lawrence, N.Y.) and freshman Paul Orrson (Baltimore, Md.) earned spots on the Second Team.

Engineers Fall to Springfield in Pilgrim League Semifinals
SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – Top-seeded Springfield College outscored No. 4 MIT, 9-3, in the second half en route to a 13-4 victory in the semifinals of the Pilgrim Lacrosse League tournament on Wednesday night. Freshman Graham Francis (Palos Verdes Estates, Calif.) paced the Engineers with two goals and an assist as they finished the season with a 5-10 record.

MIT Edges Mass. Maritime, Clinches Playoff Spot
BUZZARDS BAY, Mass. – For the second year in a row, the MIT men’s lacrosse team secured a spot in the Pilgrim Lacrosse League Championship Tournament in dramatic fashion on the last day of conference play as it defeated Massachusetts Maritime Academy, 7-6. Sophomore John Kramer (Glastonbury, Conn.) provided the game-winning goal with 1:49 remaining in regulation on Monday night while senior Sean Burke (Centennial, Colo.) put the Engineers in the playoffs last season by scoring with 33 seconds left in a double-overtime decision against Clark University.

Big First Half Leads Engineers Past Clark, 11-5
WORCESTER, Mass. – Seven unanswered goals along with 14 saves from senior goalie Christopher Rullan (Wexford, Pa.) in the first half helped power the MIT men’s lacrosse team to an 11-5 victory over Clark University in a Pilgrim Lacrosse League game on Saturday afternoon. For the second straight outing, sophomore Chris Cook (Tully, N.Y.) led the way for the Engineers (4-9, 2-3 Pilgrim) as he generated a game-high four goals.

Wheaton Holds Off MIT, 7-4
BOSTON, Mass. – The MIT men’s lacrosse team produced three goals in the fourth quarter but it would not be enough as Wheaton College held on for a 7-4 win in a Pilgrim Lacrosse League game on Wednesday night. Sophomore Chris Cook (Tully, N.Y.) paced the Engineers (3-7, 1-3 Pilgrim) with two goals and an assist.

Men's Lacrosse Overpowers Regis, 17-2
CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – A balanced attack that saw 11 players record at least one point helped propel MIT to a 17-2 victory over Regis College in a Pilgrim Lacrosse League game on Wednesday night. Freshman Luke Verdi (Middletown, Md.) produced a game-high four points for the Engineers (3-8, 1-2 Pilgrim) on two goals and two assists. Sophomore Nick Dallas (Huntington Beach, Calif.) and freshman Nicky Rodrigo (Miami, Fla.) generated the offense for the Pride who saw their ledger lower to 4-9 on the year and 0-4 in conference action.

Christopher Rullan Named Pilgrim Lacrosse League Player of the Week
SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – Following an impressive week between the pipes, MIT senior goalie Christopher Rullan (Wexford, Pa.) was voted the Pilgrim Lacrosse League Player of the Week. The honor is the first for him as well as for the men’s lacrosse team this season as he totaled 43 saves, a .768 save percentage, a 6.50 goals against average, 15 groundballs, and four caused turnovers in two games.

Late Goal Lifts Babson Past Engineers, 5-4
CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – With 2:23 left in regulation, freshman Spencer Low (Natick, Mass.) connected on a feed from senior Alex Patinkin (Providence, R.I.) in transition to propel Babson College past MIT, 5-4, in a Pilgrim Lacrosse League game on Saturday afternoon. Patinkin produced a game-high four points on one goal and three assists for the Beavers (6-6, 2-0 Pilgrim) while sophomore Chris Cook (Tully, N.Y.) posted two goals for the Engineers (2-8, 0-2 Pilgrim).

SALEM, Mass. - With the scored tied at four heading into the final frame, host Salem State University rattled off four unanswered goals to defeat MIT, 8-4, in a non-conference men's lacrosse game on Tuesday night. Freshman Alex Seo (Westport, Conn.) paced the Engineers (2-7) with two goals and an assist.

Engineers Overpower UMass Boston, 17-6
CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – The MIT men’s lacrosse team saw 11 players earn at least a point in its 17-6 victory over UMass Boston on Tuesday afternoon. Sophomores Chris Cook (Tully, N.Y.) and Jake Slonaker (West Windsor, N.J.) both posted four goals and an assist for the Engineers (2-5) while the Beacons (2-8) were led by sophomore Donny Delpha (Walpole, Mass.) who registered a hat-trick.

Comeback Bid Falls Short as Florida Tech Holds off Men's Lacrosse, 9-8
MELBOURNE, Fla. – Florida Institute of Technology outscored MIT, 5-2, in the opening frame and managed to hold on for a 9-8 victory over MIT in a non-conference men’s lacrosse game on Friday. Freshman Paul Orrson (Baltimore, Md.) led all scorers with three goals and an assist for the Engineers, whose ledger lowered to 1-5 on the year.

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – The Wentworth Institute of Technology men’s lacrosse team rattled off six unanswered goals in the third quarter en route to an 8-5 victory over MIT on Wednesday night. Junior Steve Glover (Marstons Mills, Mass.) recorded all four of his goals in the pivotal frame for the Leopards (4-0) while senior Sean Burke (Centennial, Colo.) and freshman Paul Orrson (Baltimore, Md.) both scored twice for the Engineers (0-3).

UNE Edges out Men’s Lacrosse, 7-6
BIDDEFORD, Maine. – MIT knotted the score at five early in the fourth quarter but the University of New England scored twice during the last eight minutes to emerge with a 7-6 victory in a non-conference men’s lacrosse game on Saturday afternoon. Sophomore Chris Cook (Tully, N.Y.) paced the Engineers (0-2) with two goals as freshman Jonah Hessels (Poolesville, Md.) added one goal and an assist.

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Five unanswered goals by UMass Dartmouth in the fourth quarter propelled it to an 11-4 win over MIT in a non-conference men’s lacrosse game on Wednesday afternoon. Freshman Nicklaus Prozinski (Ashland, Mass.) racked up six goals, including four during the final frame, for the Corsairs (4-0) while freshman Jonah Hessels (Poolesville, Md.) paced the Engineers (0-1) with a goal and an assist.

Men's Lacrosse Announces 2013 Schedule
CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – The MIT men’s lacrosse team kicks off the 2013 campaign on Friday, March 8 with a home game against Norwich University. One new opponent appears on the Engineers’ schedule in addition to a six-game Pilgrim Lacrosse League lineup.
