Newton, Mass. (May 18) – For the second year in a row the MIT men's lacrosse team received multiple selections to the New England Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association (NEILA) Academic All-New England Team. Seniors Harris Stolzenberg (Weston, Fla.) and Michael Traub (Aliso Viejo, Calif.) represented the Engineers on the list. In order to be eligible for this award nominees must have senior standing, a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or better on a 4.0 scale, and be a significant enough player that he was nominated for at least All-Conference selection.
The 2017 NEWMAC Athlete of the Year and four-time NEWMAC All-Conference selection, Stolzenberg paced the league in assists (37), assists per game (2.31), points (76), and points per game (4.75) while ranking third in goals (39) and goals per game (2.44). He earned a trio of NEWMAC Academic All-Conference accolades and is a two-time CoSIDA Academic All-District honoree. A finance major, Stolzenberg interned with Deutsche Bank Investment, was an MHR Fund private equity extern and was an analyst intern at Sunridge Capital Regional Bank.
Traub powered the Cardinal and Gray's midfield with 22 goals and 18 assists for 40 points with his assists tally ranking ninth in the NEWMAC. He graduates ranking fourth all-time at MIT in career assists (76), sixth in points (171), and ninth in goals (95). A three-time NEWMAC Academic All-Conference qualifier, Traub will graduate with degrees in physics as well as mathematics with computer science.
